Obituary for Lorraine A. Henderson On October 13, 2018 the dearly loved, Lorraine A. Henderson of St. Albans, WV, was received into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. Lorraine was 91, and passed away at Thomas Memorial Hospital following complications of a hip surgery. She was born to the late Donald and Katherine Northup on April 16, 1927 in Duluth, Minnesota.
She was a graduate of Escanaba High School, class of 1945 and trained, graduated and served as a Cadet Nurse in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps in Chicago, Illinois during WWII. On December 27, 1949 Lorraine married Richard “Dick” Henderson and together they raised 9 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Joan Myers; her eldest son, William “Bill” Henderson.
She was a devout Christian who was active in her local church and involved in leading prayer and Bible Study groups including Lydia Fellowship Intl. , End-Time Handmaidens (WV State Coordinator), and Pray WV. For years, she was involved with Pro-Life lobbying at the WV State Capitol.
She loved taking walks, working in her garden and decorating her home. She is survived by her children, Richard Henderson, Mary Cae Henderson, Patricia Tuckovich, John Henderson, Joan Isble (Mike), Anne Siegle (Joseph), Joseph Henderson (Tammy), Michael Henderson and Phoebe Henderson. Her legacy will live on through 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
In addition to raising her children, Lorraine worked as a register nurse for Chicago Veterans Administration, University of Texas Medical Branch, FMC, Thomas Memorial Hospital and Union Carbide Corporation. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 18, 2018 at King’s River Worship Center, 777 Mallory Lane, North, St. Albans with Pastor Ron Crum and Pastor Chris Kimbro officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Scott Depot.
