Obituary for Mayford Samples Mayford Ray Samples, 79, of Nitro, passed away on September 22, 2018, at his home. Mayford was born in Charleston on February 25, 1939 to the late Elliott and Lakie Samples. He was also preceded in death by his brother Clayton Samples; sisters, Betty Jarrett, Juanita Samples and Rosalie Samples.

He loved his family and playing games, especially board games and cards. He also loved playing pool. He attended Maranatha Fellowship and was a Home Health Caregiver for many years.

He also previously worked at FMC. He is survived by his daughter, Tamara Ellis of Hurricane; brother Donald Samples of St. Albans; grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Rae Ellis and Brion Allen Pauley; one great grandchild on the way Baby Grant; nieces Gigi Ward, Linda Swinegar, Debbie Burt and Diana Coston; nephews, Chris Samples, Joe Jarrett and Stanford Samples; and many extended family and friends. There will be a Gathering of Family and friends from 6:00-7:00 pm October 5, 2018, at Village on the Park, 1600 Park Ave Nitro, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association at 1606 Second Ave. Charleston, WV 25387.
