Obituary for Frances L. “Bet” Womack Frances L. “Bet” Womack, 96, a lifetime resident of St. Albans and more recently, Sweetbriar Assisted Living in Dunbar, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Hubbard Hospice House West at Thomas Hospital, South Charleston. Born in South Charleston, to the late Henry W. and Nancy Lucas Miller. She was also proceeded in death by her loving husband of 75 years, Charles “Homer” Womack; her son Barry Womack; 2 brothers, Henry Miller and Johnny Miller & 5 sisters, Sarah Gertrude Reese, Edith Lacy, Emma Lively, Jacqueline Horner and Ruth Covert.
She met the Lord Jesus Christ during her teenage years at Rehoboth Baptist Church in St. Albans. She later became an active member of Highlawn Baptist Church, St. Albans where she sang in the choir, was a member of the Hospitality Committee, was in the Mary Gray Mission Circle and played piano for her Sunday school class. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano by ear for all who’d listen, cooking for any occasion that might arise and she was a lifetime seamstress, whether it was making clothes for her childhood dolls, making pristine wedding dresses or clothing one of her grandchildren or great grandchildren.
She also loved to bowl and did so up until her late 80’s. Frances was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and aunt. She attended Tackett’s Creek Elementary School and was a graduate of St. Albans High School in 1942.
She loved her job as a seamstress at the Diamond Department Store for many years as well as other department stores in Charleston. She is survived by her daughter Barbara L. Kline, Strongsville, Ohio; granddaughter, Cindy Croft and husband, Terry; grandson, Jim Kline; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Harsch (Mike), Lauren Shooltz (Evan), Brittany Kline; great-great granddaughter, Eden Jane Shooltz, great-great grandson Nolan Charles Harsch. She was an aunt to many, including a special niece and nephew, Harvey and Madge Reese.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Highlawn Baptist Church, 2304 Jefferson Avenue, St. Albans with Pastor Jason E. Robbins and Dr. Rich McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Teay’s Hill Cemetery, St. Albans. Friends may call one hour prior to funeral service at Highlawn Baptist Church.
