Obituary for Robert Lee Roach Robert Lee Roach, 83, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2018, surrounded by the love of his family. Bob was born March 20, 1935. He was one of eight children born to parents, Russell and Vola (Sovine) Roach, of Winfield, West Virginia.

Bob was always sharing memories of being raised on a farm and of the value of hard work that he learned at their family farm. After graduating from Winfield High School in 1953, he joined the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he was employed by a number of employers including Kaiser Aluminum, Putnam County Schools, and the Dodge truck factory in Detroit.

He later spent over 15 years working as a master brick mason – giving his special touch to many of the homes, churches, and businesses you still see in Putnam County today. His longest employment was working 20 years as a heavy equipment operator and Superintendent for Cardinal Construction Company and Kessler Coals. A self-taught musician and singer, Bob learned to play the guitar and steel guitar “by ear” and his talents were shared with many including several country western bands, his church, and many nursing homes.

He also was a proud member of Moose and Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star, Shriners and the Lions Club, where he spent countless volunteer hours as a leader and entertainer. Bob was loved by many and he had a large beautiful family. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Stanley).

Bob also leaves behind his sister, Brenda Hudson, of Morgantown, West Virginia and his nine children – Patricia Keeling (Bruce) of Degraff, Ohio; Terry Roach of Ocala, Florida; Sherry Hart (Harold) of Destin, Florida; Perry Roach (Amanda) of Scott Depot, West Virginia; Robin Curd of Dallas, Texas; Dawn Renee McCown (Fred) of Cross Lanes, West Virginia; Rhonda Strean of Cleburne, Texas; Wendy Manning (Ted) of Ostrander, Ohio, Kerri Tomlin (Dave) of Delaware, Ohio. He is also survived by a bevy of grandchildren. 27 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild to be exact.

True blessings indeed and he was proud of each of them. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Vola (Sovine) Roach; brothers, William, Carl, and Paul; and sisters, Arlene and Clara; and son, Jerry Lee Roach.
