Life Story for Diane Lester Parker Vardaman—Diane Lester Parker, 71, passed away peacefully at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Born January 29, 1947, in Calhoun City, she was the daughter of the late Juett Lester, Sr. and the late Hettie Ruby Mann Lester. She graduated from Calhoun City High School, and married the love of her life, Charles Parker, on May 28, 1965.

They were married two months shy of 50 years before his passing in 2015. She began her career at Kellwood Company, and later retired from Calhoun Apparel after many years as a seamstress. She was an active member of New Liberty Baptist Church, choir, and Sunday school class until her decline in health, always lending herself to serve as hostess of showers for church members as well as helping to prepare meals for those who had lost loved ones.

Ms. Diane loved to garden and be outdoors, as could be witnessed by her beautiful yard and many flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, Geemaw, sister, aunt, and friend, often referred to as one of the sweetest persons known. She was an ever-present cheerleader for her grandsons at ballgames, award ceremonies, graduations, and simple everyday hunting and fishing ventures.

She was always a Christian example to anyone who witnessed her life up close or from afar. She may have lost her battle with her health, but she has won her battle in life, as she is now in the arms of Jesus. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends, but her memory will be cherished forever in their hearts.
