Life Story for Bruce Dickey Ellisville, MS—Bruce W. Dickey, 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Ellisville, MS on Friday, October 5, 2018. Born July 11, 1946, in Big Creek, MS, he was the son of the late Luss Dickey and the late Mary Shankle Dickey. Bruce was a 1964 graduate of Calhoun City High School, and was a member of the Laurel Seventh Day Adventist Church in Laurel, Mississippi.
Bruce and his wife, Patricia were married in 1977, and together they raised three wonderful children. Throughout his career he did many things. His family says he was a “jack of all trades”.
He was a contractor, putting up metal buildings all over Calhoun City and Bruce. He also spent time as an insurance salesman and was very successful. In the last 15 years or so, he ran the family vineyard in south Mississippi.
He loved to hunt and fish, and also trapping when they lived on the lake. Bruce was a peace loving man, and always said the blessing at family gatherings. A special memory he shared was how he taught himself to read the Bible at 6 years of age.
Above all, his family meant the most to him. His life provided them with many great memories that will be cherished forever. Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Dickey family.
A graveside funeral service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, October 7, 2018, at 2:30pm at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Big Creek. There will also be a visitation on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the Pryor Funeral Home before proceeding to the cemetery. Bro.
Jim Vance will be officiating. He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Patricia Norton Dickey; a son, Bruce W. Dickey, II and his wife Bridgett of Pervis, MS; two daughters: Tricia Hope Dickey and Mary Margaret Dickey both of Mobile, AL; three sisters, Katherine Spruill of Big Creek, Sharon Wilson and husband James Dallas of Eupora, MS, and Lorene Hillhouse of Long Beach, MS; brother, George Dickey and wife Joan of Big Creek; and a grandson, Bruce W. Dickey, III. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jackie and Edd Dickey, and two sisters, Carolyn Hollis and Shirley Russell.
