Life Story for James Irby Patterson Calhoun City—James Irby Patterson, 71, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 1, 2018. Born March 5, 1947, in Vardaman, he was the son of the late Winfred Patterson and the late Johnnie Sutton Patterson. Mr. Irby graduated from Calhoun City High School in 1965, and attended Calhoun City First Baptist Church.
He and Cat Easley were married in August of 1985. He spent much of his early life farming, but he was retired after serving many years as the owner of dry cleaning stores in Calhoun City, Houston, Ackerman, and Savannah, TN. He was also well known for his talent of hand drawing house plans for many people in the community.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved to be outdoors working in the yard. He also loved to work. He would often say “there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians”.
His family affectionately says he loved attention, and always wanted to be the “chief”. A true “cut-up”, he could bring a smile to anyone and always had fun. Mr. Irby was loved and highly respected by his community.
He loved the Lord and his family, and was known by everyone for his heart of gold and loyal friendship. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Pryor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Friday, July 6, 2018, at 11:00am at Pryor Funeral Home. There will also be a visitation on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Bro.
