Cremation has taken place under the direction of Waller Funeral Home of Scobey. Donald Arthur “Art” Audet died peacefully on December 19, 2018 in Billings, Montana at the age of 93. Art was born October 6, 1925 in Scobey, Montana to parents Donald and Leonie Audet.

He had five brothers and sisters, Gertrude Brinkman, Violet Hawbaker, Ronald Audet, Richard Audet and Joan Sell. Art spoke only French when he started at LaPierre School in Four Buttes, Montana and later attended school in Scobey, Montana. He then joined the Navy in December of 1943 serving as a Landing Signal Officer on the USS Cape Esperance and was honorably discharged in April of 1946.

He met the love of his life, Mazel Scharf Harris, while in high school and they were married on August 21, 1948. They were blessed with five children, Philip, Craig, Dana, Allan and Laura. Art worked as a plumber at Leibrand’s Service for nearly 50 years becoming an expert in his field of heating and plumbing.

Art was a volunteer firefighter for many years and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed attending all the sporting events of his children and traveled all over Montana each year to attend the many activities. He later retired and enjoyed his spare time working in his wood shop out of his garage making all kinds of treasures for family and friends.

He also kept busy golfing almost every day with his retired friends. He especially enjoyed his friendships with all his close neighbors who became like family to him. We will remember him as a truly special individual – a simple, hardworking man who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Art and Mazel lived in the same home in Scobey for many years, until late 2014 when they moved to Billings where they lived in assisted living at Highgate Senior Living.
