She graduated from Scobey High School in 1952, and then attended college in Havre and in 1955 married Dick Baker.

They later divorced. Granddaughter Kayli Christophel wrote about her grandmother: “My Nana Pat was an uncommonly wealthy person. If you looked at her bank account or her list of possessions you may not agree.

If you looked at her life story you may not understand. But, through the tragic and difficult times of my grandmother’s life, she was surrounded by and cultivated the most precious of all fortunes – family. Nana’s father was an orphan, fortunate to have learned through adoption that genetics are not required to form a family.

Nana lost her own mother when she was two years old. She and her siblings forged an uncommon bond that allowed them to weather the challenges of growing up without their mother’s physical presence. Nana was a single mother of five children (Jon, Mary, D.J., Kenneth and Carol).

Those were not easy days. Money and opportunities were limited for a woman in those circumstances. But, from those days came a family of five children who knew that the only real wealth is one that you can’t buy.

Money will come and go. Health will come and go. Family is what matters.

Family will get you through. Nana, her siblings and extended family, as well as my father and his siblings are inspirations to me for how human beings can protect and support one another through any circumstances. Today, Nana is reunited with her mother and other treasured family members.

She leaves behind a wealth of love that I am so grateful to have received. It is a wealth that my family and I intend to share. Nana’s last few months were surrounded by her earthly family.

Now she has received her full inheritance, in a place where the sun will always shine warmly on her face and she will live gloriously until we meet again”. Survivors include her children, Jon (Kris) Baker of Scobey, Mary Joleen (Curtis)Weiler of Helena, MT, D.J. Baker (Steve Kennevan) of Seattle, WA, Kenneth Charles (Linda) Baker of Vienna, WV, and Carol Patricia Worden of Missoula; ten grandchildren – Kayli (Gentry) Christophel, Jordan Baker, Kari (Ryan) Tuttle, Justan, Karli Baker, Zachary (Leslie) Baker, Breanna (Ryan) Delancey, Forrest Weiler, Kirsten Weiler, and Hannah Worden; and four great grandchildren – Laiken and Alexandra Christophel, and Aria and Elizabeth Baker. Pat was preceded in death by her brothers James and Emmett Cavanaugh, and sister Betty Swart.
