Obituary for Donald Franklin Moss Donald F. “Don” Moss, 80, of Grand Island, passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, NE following a brief illness. Service and celebration of Don’s life will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Gollaher Chapel officiated by Reverend David Clark. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Don was born November 10, 1937 to Henry and Viola (Kruse) Moss at Cairo, NE. He was Baptized on December 12, 1937 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island and Confirmed September 9, 1951 in Shelton, NE at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.

He graduated from Gibbon High School, class of 1955. Don attended UNL and graduated from Kearney Nebraska State Teacher’s College with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Industrial Arts. After teaching 7 years at Columbus High School he returned to Grand Island to farm with his father Henry.

Following his father’s death, Don’s son-in-law, Kerry Cooksley, joined Don on the farm. 2017 marked Don’s 50th year running the combine. Don greatly enjoyed reading farm magazines and learning new farming techniques, driving his Peterbilt semi and was a faithful steward of the land.

On January 9, 1982, Don married Donna ( Price) Zook. Don was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a former member of the Platt Duetsche and Saddle Club. Survivors include his wife, Donna; Don’s daughters, Kimberly and Cynthia; step-daughter and her husband, Terry and Kerry Cooksley of Alda and their children, Quentin (Ashley) Cooksley, Aaron (Jessica) Cooksley, Hadley (Reba) Cooksley and Audra Cooksley; step-son, Kent Zook of Grand Island and his children, Christina (Brandon) Engleman, Courtney (Robby) Pinkelman, and Nathan Zook; and four great-grandchildren.
