Obituary for Vicki Jakubowski Trejo Vicki (Jakubowski) Trejo, 53, formerly of Grand Island, passed away on June 11, 2018, after a bout with cancer, with family and friends by her side, in Virginia Beach, Va. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 29, at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, with Dan Naranjo officiating. Vicki was an avid Nebraska football fan and we would like to have people wear Nebraska football apparel.

Vicki was born in Grand Island on March 26, 1965, to Tom and Roberta (Shaver) Jakubowski. She received her education in Grand Island, graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1982. In 1985 she enlisted in the U.S. Navy, retiring 26 years later as an Aviation Maintenance Administrationman and was a Senior Chief.

After retiring from the Navy she went to work as an application support analyst at Innova Systems International, where she worked until April of 2017, when she was diagnosed with cancer. Vicki is survived by a daughter, Amber Smith, and her companion, Fred Howard, two grandsons, Kobe and Jaxon Howard, and a son, Tyler Trejo, all of Virginia Beach, Va. She is also survived by her mom and stepdad, Don and Roberta Filkins of Alda; sister, Jenny Kempffer of Grand Island; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Sheila Keck of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Catherine Shaver, Rob and Isabel Jakubowski; her father, Tom Jakubowski; sister, Stephanie Thomsen; and her dog, Lucky.
