Obituary for Don Ramsey Don Ramsey, 97, of Johnston City, passed away at 1:47 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2018 at his home. Don was born November 19, 1921in West Frankfort to Lee and Elizabeth ”Lizzie” Ramsey. He married Dorothy Lewis on October 26, 1945.

They have shared 73 years of marriage together. Dorothy survives. Don was retired having been a coal miner for many years.

He was employed byFreeman #6 and Freeman #5 coal mines. He was a member of the UMWA for 70 years. Don was an avid gardener and enjoyed putting out a large garden until his health began to fail.

He also enjoyed being a carpenter. He loved stock car races and tractor pulls. Survivors include his two sons, David (Joy) Ramsey of Johnston City, Danny (Joyce) Ramsey of Washington, IL; three grandchildren, Julie (Justen) Roye of Johnston City, Stephanie (Scott) Lawson of Washington and Josh (Brandi) Ramsey of Washington; three great-grandchildren, Gavin Roye, Declan Ramsey and Everly Lawson; brother, Charles Ramsey of Johnston City.

He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and three sisters. In honor of his wishes his body will be cremated.

There will be no services. Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the JC Kids Lunch Bunch.
