Obituary for Dorothy Fugate CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – Dorothy Fugate, 79, died Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee. She was born in Castlewood, Virginia; daughter of the late John S. and Sallie Marshall Porter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Clarence “Smiley” Fugate; two sons, Thomas Gregory Fugate and Gary C. Fugate; two sisters, Lois Johnson and Lucille Salyer; two brothers, John S. Porter, Jr. and Roy Lee Porter.
She was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She loved her family and church family, and loved to quilt and sew. Her children and grandchildren were her world.
She attended Lakeview Community Church and was a member of Ladies of Stitches at Fort Gibson United Methodist Church in Castlewood, Virginia She is survived by one daughter, Polly Jessee and husband, Anthony of Castlewood, Virginia; one son, Charles Nathan Fugate and wife, Anita of Castlewood, Virginia; one grandson, Anthony “A.J.” Jessee of Castlewood, Virginia; three granddaughters, Carlie Fugate, Ashley Fugate, and Kendra Fugate all of Castlewood, Virginia; one sister, Joann Harrison and husband, Roy of Lebanon, Virginia; one brother, Orbie Porter and wife, Ann of Castlewood, Virginia; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Dorothy Fugate will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Brother Cuba Porter, Rev. Roger Carter, and Rev.
Gary Crum officiating. Committal Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in Fugate Cemetery, Castlewood, Virginia. Family and Friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Mike Jessee, Eric Hurd, Jeff Baker, Ben Couch, A.J. Jessee, and Anthony Jessee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Campbell, Larry Hartsock, Roy Harrison, Sonny Roe, Fred Meade, and Mackie Hall. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia.
