Dorothy Glendora Howard November 14, 1919 – February 09, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Dorothy Glendora Howard, age 99, of Shelbina, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Salt River Community Care Center, in Shelbina, Missouri. Dorothy was born on November 14, 1919, in Shelbina, Missouri, the first child of Claude Edward and Gertrude (Darnell) Loflin. She was united in marriage to Mervyn Howard on June 15, 1940 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shelbina.

Mervyn preceded her in death on April 1, 2001. Dorothy graduated from Shelbina High School in 1938 and later attended Kirksville State Teacher’s College in Kirksville, Missouri. She worked as a bookkeeper most of her life.

She loved playing BINGO, crocheting, sewing, quilting, doing puzzles, and going to the casino. Most of all, she cherished her time spent with her family and friends. She is survived by one daughter, Jean Leftridge and her companion, Bill Arment, of Barnett, Missouri; one son, Jack Howard of Hunnewell, Missouri; one brother, Jim (Sonny) Loflin of El Paso, Texas; two grandsons, Mike Leftridge of Shelbina, Missouri, and Chris Howard and wife Amy of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; three great granddaughters, Kylee Leftridge of Hutto, Texas, Lily Grace and Emma Kate Howard of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; four step-great-granddaughters; four step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Ralph (Bob) Loflin; grandson, Doug Leftridge; and one nephew, Bobbo Loflin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11 am at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, Missouri. A visitation will precede the funeral starting a 10am to 11 am at the funeral home.

Burial will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Shelbina, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Shelby County Senior Center or the Salt River Community Care Center.
