Ruth Alice Murphy July 23, 1921 – February 03, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Ruth Alice Murphy, 97, of Macon, MO, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2019 at the Samaritan Hospital in Macon. Ruth was born on July 23, 1921, in Macon, the daughter of Harry E. and Wilhelmena Bertha (Bamman) Moehle. She was united in marriage to Allen Robert Murphy on August 10, 1952, in Macon.

Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church of Macon, Atlanta Community Club, and Northeast Missouri Association of Educational Office Professionals. She retired as a secretary to the Macon R-1 Superintendent in 1987. Ruth enjoyed helping others by donating blood, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her two sons, George Allen Murphy and his wife Marianne of Bevier, MO, and Wayne Harrison Murphy and his wife Becky of Macon, MO; four grandchildren, Robert Murphy and his wife Brooke of Kenosha, WI, Andrew Murphy and his wife Brianne of Macon, Paul Murphy and his wife Heather of Callao, MO, and Joseph Martin and his wife Brittany of Macon; nine great-grandchildren, Fiona, Olivia and Amelia Murphy all of Kenosha, WI, Lena and Aylen Murphy of Macon, Levi and Eleanor Murphy of Callao, and Landon and Alexander Martin of Macon; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen on April 9, 2018; her sisters, Martha Jane Moehle, Marie Carey, and Anna Belle Lowery; and her brothers, Harry Moehle, and Hubert Moehle. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon with Pastor Larry DeSpain officiating.

Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday evening, from 5 to 7 pm, at the funeral home. Family suggests memorials to the Randy Johnson Memorial Fund or Alzheimer’s Association.
