Obituary of Douglas Sleeman, Sr. Douglas J. Sleeman, Sr., age 81 of Corning, NY passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 12, 1937 in Queens, NY to Fredrick and Phyllis (Reeves) Sleeman. He married Nancy Stewart on January 29, 1977 at Grace Methodist Church Chapel in Corning.

Douglas graduated from high school and then served his country in the Navy, stationed on the USS Bremerton in California. He was an avid reader and a lover of animals. He was also an excellent fisherman.

He was a Christian Scientist since the age of 12 and currently worshipped at the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Elmira. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sleeman; daughter: Mary Sleeman of Elmira Heights; son: Douglas J. Sleeman Jr. of Gillett, PA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents.

Memorial donations can be directed to the Chemung County SPCA. There will be no official service. A private family gathering will be held at a date and place to be determined.
