Edith Y. Roman April 22, 1937 – March 19, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book Waterbury, CT Edith Y. Roman “Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother” Edith Y. (DeJesus) Roman, 81, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the VITAS Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Diego Roman, Sr. Edith was born in Penuelas, Puerto Rico on April 22, 1937, daughter of the late Abelardo and Esther (Santos) DeJesus. She was a communicant of The Shrine of St. Anne and enjoyed crocheting.

Most of all, she was a devoted grandmother and loved her family. Edith leaves her son, Jose Diego Roman, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Cape Coral, FL, her daughters, Araceli Roman Olivero and her husband, Adrian Jr. of Waterbury, Yolanda Roman and her fiancée, Safin Figueroa of Bristol, seven grandchildren, Jacqueline (Quintin), Phylicia, Brenden, Jose III, Stefani, Amalia and Derion and two great grandchildren, Liam Elmer and Avery Viola Minggia. She also leaves her brother, Jose Rodriguez of Patterson, NJ, sisters, Aurea Roman DeJesus, Miriam Rosario DeJesus, Ada Pabey DeJesus all of Puerto Rico, Gloria Torres DeJesus of El Paso, TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her son, Elmer Roman and brother, Elliott DeJesus. Arrangements: A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 309 South Main St., Waterbury, CT. Please meet directly at the church.

Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury, CT has been entrusted with Edith’s arrangements.
