Elaine’s Obituary Elaine Viola Jacobsen, 91, Minot formerly of Flaxton, ND, died Saturday, March 2, 2019, in a Minot Assisted Living Center. Elaine Anderson was born on March 7, 1927, in rural Bowbells, ND, the daughter of Raymond and Paula (Christianson) Anderson. She was raised and educated in Flaxton.

On December 28, 1945, Elaine was united in marriage to Etlar Jacobsen in Flaxton, ND. Following their marriage they lived in California for a time before taking over the operations of the Jacobsen farm near Flaxton. Together they raised their family of four and farmed for over 63 years, until they moved to Minot.

They enjoyed being snowbirds for over 17 years at Apache Junction, AZ. Elaine was a member of United Lutheran Church of Flaxton where she was active in ladies aid and a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Flaxton American Legion Auxiliary.

Elaine liked to help her mother around the house and also helped her dad with the dairy cattle. She loved being a big sister to her brother Darven. At a young age she took care of him by herself in Flaxton during the winter months so they could attend school.

Later on as a teenager, she waited tables for her parents in their restaurant on her lunch hour and after school in Flaxton. The following year after her high school graduation, she taught grades 1-8 in a one room schoolhouse near Bowbells. She enjoyed making many wedding and birthday cakes for friends and family.

Elaine was also known as the local hairstylist and barber. She loved to bake, cook, and was a member of the Flaxton Homemakers Club. She enjoyed music and played her guitar and keyboard.

Above all, was her love for all her children, grandchildren, and everyone she met. Etlar died on March 23, 2015 and Elaine continued to live in Minot until her death. Those Who Shared In Her Life: Children: Dale (Susan) Jacobsen, Pick City, ND, Donna Roos, Minot, Dennis (Christie) Jacobsen, Burlington; Eleven grandchildren: Christi (John) Wegh, Tim Jacobsen , Tiffany (Nate) Dahl, Amber (Russ) Giveans, Kirk (Bryn) Roos, Kayla (Chris) Gish, Kelsey (Steve) Walter, Garrett Jacobsen, Brittany (Dan) Hansen, Courtney Jacobsen, Micah (Rachel) Jacobsen; Fifteen great-grandchildren: Shannon (Ashley) Wegh, Jessica (Adam) Hughes, Mariah and Kyleigh Dahl, Izaiah, Judah, Titus and Levi Giveans, Joycee and Jettler Jacobsen, Clarashea Roos, Miles and Rory Walter, Harvey Gish, Elias Hansen; one great-great-grandchild: Jubilee Wegh, brother, Darven Anderson.

Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Etlar, parents, son Dwight Jacobsen, daughter-in-law Claudia Jacobsen, an infant brother, Elton Anderson, and sister-in-law Leora Anderson. Visitation: Thursday, March 7, 2019, from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Celebration of Life Service and Elaine’s Birthday; Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. at Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot, ND. Funeral Service; Friday, March 8, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Free Lutheran Church, Minot, ND. Burial: Rural Lutheran Cemetery, rural Flaxton, ND.
