Elizabeth “Beth” Marie Blackburn October 31, 1974 – January 18, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Elizabeth “Beth” Marie Blackburn (nee Becker), 44 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019, at Main Street Care Center of Avon following a lengthy illness. Beth was born October 31, 1974, in Elyria, and resided in South Amherst her whole life where she graduated from Firelands High School with the class of 1993 and where she earned the title of Miss Lorain County Basketball for 1993. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ashland University.

She was a beloved teacher at Brookside Middle School for over 16 years where she was a dedicated volleyball coach and track coach. She inspired her students and desired only their best as she taught and coached. Beth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Amherst.

She treasured her family and cared for her mother at home. She played an integral role in encouraging her niece and nephews in their sporting events as their biggest fan. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Carson of Lakewood; her mother Barbara Becker (nee: King); her brother Robert, Jr. and his children Robert and Alaina; and her sister Penny and her children Frank and Jaxson all of South Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert George Becker, Sr. Friends may call Thursday, January 24, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. , Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 115 Central Drive, Amherst, OH 44001.

The Rev. Paul Werner, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that contributions be made to any 5/3 Bank to the Beth Becker Blackburn Memorial Account to offset funeral expenses. For those unable to attend please visit the funeral home’s website to share a memory and sign the guest register, www. hempelfuneralhome.com.
