Ella’s Obituary Ella M. Bertsch—85, Minot, entered her heavenly home and was welcomed by her Savior on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 in her home. Ella Mae Bullinger was born on August 15, 1933, the daughter of Frank and Esther (Boettcher) Bullinger near Kramer, ND. She was raised on a farm northeast of Kramer and attended country school at the Whitby Township through the 4th grade.

The family moved to a farm northeast of Willow City, where she attended Notre Dame Academy for two years. Ella continued her education at Willow City Public School where she graduated in 1951. Her working career began at Farmers Union Creamery and then the Farmers Union Elevator, in Minot.

Ella was united in marriage to Dennis Bertsch of Fillmore on July 5, 1960 in Minot. They were blessed with four children Lynda, Douglas, Diane, and Cheryl. After the children started school she was employed at JC Penny’s for 17 years, retiring in 1993 to babysit her grandsons.

Ella was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church since 1960. She and Dennis loved to dance and they were members of the Northwest Polkateers. She helped sponsor several children from Guatemala for over twenty years through the Child Reach Program.

She also enjoyed cooking and making special dishes for her children and grandchildren. Ella is survived by: Husband of 58 years, Dennis, Minot; Children: Lynda Bertsch, Minot, Douglas (Patty) Bertsch, Phoenix, AZ, Diane (David) Lillemon, Austin, MN, Cheryl (Jeff) Merck, Minot; Five grandchildren: Jacob Merck, Justin Merck, Katie Lillemon, Jared Lillemon, Jordyn Bertsch; One sister: Frances Ziegler, Minot; brothers and sisters-in-law: Catherine Holzer, Clarence Tryhus, Janet Bertsch, , Penny Bertsch, all of Minot, Frannie Bertsch, Brooten, MN; Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Ella was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation: Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 3 until 5 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Funeral Service: Monday, March 11, 2019 at 11 am at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Minot. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
