Mongold November 22, 1962 – February 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Garson R. “Butch” Mongold, 56, of Rio, WV passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Winchester Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born on November 22, 1962, he was the son of the late Simon and Frances Mongold. Butch worked for Lantz Construction of Winchester for 23 years as a commercial construction superintendent.

He was in charge of building many schools, restaurants, car dealerships and medical offices. He was well known for his construction abilities. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting matches and working in his garage. He was a member of Bean Settlement Church of the Brethren. He never met a stranger.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Riggleman. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Lynn Gess Mongold; 2 sons, Jeremiah David Mongold and wife Kayla of Baker, WV and Aaron Matthew Mongold of Burlington, WV; a granddaughter, Deelicia Mongold of NC and expected in May, granddaughter Vayda Mongold; 2 step-grandchildren, Baylee Snyder and Rowan Aldridge; brother, John Mongold (Debbie) of Petersburg, WV; 2 sisters: Saundra Dawson of Winchester, VA and Susan Combs (Roy) of Bunker Hill, WV, and numerous nephews and nieces. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Rock Oak Cemetery, Rock Oak, WV with Pastor Burl Charlton officiating.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8 at McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North River Valley Fire Co., PO Box 127, Rio, WV 26755 or Hampshire Co. Animal Shelter, 155 Kerr Dr., Augusta WV 26704. .
