George R. Paro, 93 of Grand Island died Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Lakeview Nursing Center. Services will be 10 AM Friday, May 31st at All Faiths Funeral Home. Daniel Naranjo will officiate.

Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the U. S. Navy and United Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, May 30th at the funeral home.

Mr. Paro was born January 18, 1926 at Central City the son of Allan and Minnie (Doberstein) Paro. He was raised and received his education in Central City and Grand Island. He entered the United States Navy serving from April 14, 1944 to May 27, 1946 during WWII.

He was assigned to the Philippine’s with the Seabees building landing strips. On November 14, 1949 he was united in marriage to Jeannine Guyette. They made their home in Grand Island where he was one of the founders and owners of Island Glass Company.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, VFW, American Legion and the Platt Duetsche. Some of George’s enjoyments included hunting, fishing, camping and his dogs Lucky and Charlie. He loved riding Harleys as was a founder of the White Spot Motorcycle Club.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Craig (Karla) Paro of Grand Island; daughter, Karen (Gene) Pharaoh of Grand Island; grandchildren, Cody (Libby) Paro, Cassie Uhrich (Oscar Lopez) and Kelly Paro (Cody Odenbach); great-grandchildren, Xander Paro, Zoe Paro, Keyden Uhrich, Rylen Uhrich, Klara Uhrich and Camilla Lopez; step great-grandchildren, Jonathan Schardt and Lauren Schardt; his brother, Bill Paro of Plattsmouth and sister, Bonnie (Melvin) Kutschkau of Fullerton. He is preceded in death by his wife, his parents; grandsons, Joshua Lloyd Perry and Jacque Paul Paro and brothers, Robert and Frank Paro. Memorials are suggested to the Central Nebraska Humane Society.
