Obituary of Geroge Potts George Potts Jr., 71, of Falconer passed away Wednesday (June 6, 2018) in his home with his loving wife of 50 years by his side. He was born July 25, 1946 in Johnstown, PA, the son of the late George and Mildred Potts Sr. George was a 1966 graduate of Laurel Valley High School in New Florence, PA. Prior to retirement he was employed by Monofrax-Carborundum from 1966 to 2001.

George often said the best decision he ever made was marrying Helen, and loved her every day of the nearly 53 years they shared together. He also loved all of his family, friends, and coworkers – and George’s easy going nature and passion for joking around and finding reasons to laugh every day caused seemingly everyone who met him to love him too. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, woodworking, birdwatching and taking pictures.

He was a member of Falconer United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife Helen Toth Potts whom he married June 17, 1967 in New Florence, PA; three children: Rachael (Sean) Anderson of Youngsville, NC, George (Jill) Potts of Gastonia, NC, Richard (Christine) Potts of Falconer, NY; 6 grandchildren: Jennifer, George, Jacob, Steven, Brendin, and Collin; and a sister Joan Gustafson of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Nathan Potts; sister Georgia Lee Potts; three brothers: Thomas Potts, Gary Potts and Richard Potts.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. Rev. Timothy D. Phelps chaplain of Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care will officiate.

Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service Monday. Memorial contributions may be donated to Falconer United Methodist Church, 201 N. Work St., Falconer, NY 14733.
