Gladys I. Linger Alvis, 87, of Parkersburg passed away September 6, 2018 at her residence. She was born on July 2, 1931 in Parkersburg, WV a daughter of the late David McKinley and Violet Wilson Bartlett. She was a member of the Broadway Church of the Nazarene and worked as a histology and cytology technician for St. Joseph’s Hospital and Camden Clark Medical Center.

She also loved to read, crochet, cross-stitch, make quilts and interior design. Gladys is survived by her husband George F. Alvis; four daughters, Yolanda (Herschel) Garner of Risen, AR, Kathy Ann (Paula Rieder) Linger of Pittsburgh, PA, Carmen Lynn (Jeff) James of Granville, OH, Rita (David) Ernst of Louisville, KY; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Earlow Linger; son David Linger; brother David Bartlett and two sisters, Florence Barker and Mickey Collins.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 8, 2018, 11:00 am at the Broadway Church of the Nazarene, 901 Broadway Avenue, Parkersburg, WV 26101 with Rev. Dan Meek and Rev. Bill Hill officiating.

Burial will follow at Skidmore Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, September 7, 2018, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Broadway Church of the Nazarene.
