Rodney D. Hart Rodney D. Hart, 63, of Pomeroy, OH passed away October 23, 2018 at his home. He was born on July 9, 1955 in Parkersburg and was the son of the late Luther and Ardis (Whitlatch) Hart. Rodney married Catherine Sue (Elliott) Hart on September 8, 1979.

He worked and retired as a carpenter and was known to be a jack-of-all trades. Rodney loved camping and spending time with his grandchildren and dogs. In addition to his wife, Rodney is survived by two sons Michael Sloan of TN and Rodney Sloan (Toni) of Newport, OH; two daughters Misty Hart of Middleport, OH and Brooke Godfrey (Bernie) of Vienna, WV; two sisters Christina Miller (Danny) of Parkersburg and Kelly Ritchie (Brett) of Grantsville; two brothers Lawrence Whitlatch (Annetta) of Parkersburg and Mark Edward Whitlatch of WV; sister-in-law Carol Hart; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Angela George and Larry Rutter who were dear to him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Frank and Ruth Whitlatch; paternal grandparents Charles and Cora Hart; brother Luther Paul Hart; sister Beverly Sue Hitt; twin sister Rhonda Hart; and nephew Brian Hart. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will follow at Herndon Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 6-8:00 PM Friday, October 26, 2018. Following the committal service, there will be a family dinner at Deerwalk Fire Dept. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to aid in funeral expenses.
