Harmon “JR” Phillips June 20, 1958 – January 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Harmon “J.R.” Phillips, 60 years of age, and a resident of Pittsfield Township, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019 at his home following a brief illness. He was born June 20, 1958 in Amherst. JR had made his home in Wellington for the last fifteen years.

He was the owner and operator of J.R. Trucking. JR was the most kindhearted man. He was known to be very giving and loving to his wife, family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

His passion was building cars and drag racing. JR loved drag racing at the Norwalk Raceway and Dragway 42. Among those who will cherish JR’s memory is his wife of eleven years Pamela Phillips (nee: Newman); his daughter Becky Habecker (Jason) of Grafton; his stepchildren Brian Linger (Jodi) and Jeremy Linger (Stephanie) both of Lorain; his grandchildren Angelina, Jeremy, Gracie, Cameron and Alyssa; his brother Waldo Phillips of South Amherst; and his sister Alma Hall of Amherst.

He was preceded in death by his brother Roger Phillips; his sisters Wanda Jenny, Bonnie Strader, Dollie and Dorothy in infancy; and his parents Theo and Edna Phillips (nee: Dunagan). Friends may call Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. , Amherst.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice; 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, OH 44053.
