Obituary for Haskel Sykes CHURCH HILL, TENNESSEE – Haskel Sykes, 68, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tennessee. He was born in Dickenson County, at Tarpon, Virginia. Haskel was an avid sportsman, he enjoying fishing and hunting.

He was last employed with TRW of Rogersville, Tennessee. Haskel was of the Baptist faith and was a devoted member of the Gravelly Baptist Church of Kingsport, Tennessee. Haskel was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Carol Sykes; parents, Fred and Bessie Yates Sykes; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Earl and Nina Salyer Marshall; one brother, Alvin Sykes and wife, Jearline; two sisters, Launa Fletcher and husband, Fred Noel and Betty Edwards; and sister-in-law, Joann Haines and husband, Clint; two brother-in-laws, Robert Fuller and Durwood G. “Bud” Gumm.

Haskel is survived by his wife of 47 “going on 48 years”, Regina Carol Marshall Sykes; four brothers, Elmer Sykes and wife, Fay of Palm Coast, Florida, Franklin Sykes and wife, Sophia of Palm Coast, Florida, Bobby Sykes and wife, Susie of Tarpon, Virginia, and Kermit Bailey and wife, Virginia of Lynchburg, Virginia; two sisters, Christena Fuller of Tarpon, Virginia and Margie Gumm of Gray, Tennessee; two brother-in-laws, Larry Marshall of Church Hill, Tennessee and Ray Edwards of Abingdon, Virginia; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Haskel Sykes will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2018 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia, with Rev. David Salley officiating.

Committal Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 in the family plot at Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be family, Larry Marshall, Keith Sykes, Tracy Marshall, Brian Edwards, Jerry Edwards, and Dallas Gumm. Honorary Pallbearers will be family, Greg Sykes, Glenn Oakes, Larry Arnold, Odell Smith, Eugene Marshall, Michael Long, Palmer Holbrook, Derek Smith, Jason Compton, Loady Compton, and Drew Shortt.
