Obituary for Helen Wichlac Helen Wichlac, 94 of Pittsfield was a kind and very caring woman who passed away peacefully at her home on Nov. 26, 2018. She was the daughter of Daniel H. Meyer and Clara Meyers of Dunkirk, NY.

Helen was one of 8 children all of whom have predeceased her. She attended Dunkirk High in Dunkirk NY. She enjoyed sports and was very active in basketball and baseball.

She enjoyed academics and was proud of having scored 100% on the Regents Scholastic Exams. Helen’s first job was as a Proofreader for the Dunkirk Evening Observer. She went on to work at Curtis Wright as an Assembler Riveter on C46 Transport Planes and P Fighters during WWII.

She later went to work as a Clerk at Lake Shore Bank in Dunkirk, NY. Later Helen worked part time at Twin Coach Air Craft riveting helicopters. Helen and her family moved throughout the country and settled in Pittsfield in 1962.

She was a Computer Processor and Data Entry Supervisor at Berkshire Bank in Pittsfield MA. Helen retired from the Bank of New England in Pittsfield in 1989. She married Edward Wichlac from Buffalo, NY in 1949.

Helen and Edward loved to dance and excelled at the Charleston and Swing. Edward passed away in 1996. Helen and Edward had three children.

Their son Jerome Wichlac passed away in 1990. She is survived by two daughters Linda Wichlac from Pittsfield MA and Jean Wichlac Wheat from Saco ME. She has two grandchildren Maria Grove of Marlborough CT and Stephen Wichlac of Warren RI.

She has 2 great-granddaughters, Holly Kate Grove and Clara Grove of Marlborough CT. Helen Wichlac was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her caring, giving nature and wonderful cooking.

Funeral Notice: Per Helen’s request there will be no formal calling hours. Funeral services for Mrs. Helen M. Wichlac will be on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 with Rev.

William Furey, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to Bennington Project Independence in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home, 776 North St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
