Helen Orlene Barnett, 95 of Parkersburg, WV, peacefully passed away with her family by her side on April 30, 2018. She was married to her sweetheart and husband of 64 years, Charles H. Barnett, MD who preceded her in death in 2008. Helen was born August 6, 1922 in Cedarville, WV, a daughter of the late Lonnie and Manella (Clowser) Bailey.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Dr. Poe J. Bailey and Danas Jack Bailey who died at the age of seven of Polio. Mrs. Barnett is survived by her daughters: Dianne Lough (Mike) of Winston-Salem, NC and Jan E. Barnett of Parkersburg, Dianne’s son, Christopher M. Lough, MD (Laura) and only great grandchild, Connor. Helen was a 1941 graduate of Parkersburg High School.

She was a loving wife and mother who will be remembered also for her strong faith and church work at North Parkersburg Baptist Church and most recently, New Hope Baptist Church. She was a Girl Scout Leader, President of the Camden Clark Medical Auxiliary, a member of the James Wood Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, The Rebeccas, The Clara-Edna Chapter of The Order of Eastern Star, The Parkersburg Women’s Club and the Leader for the local chapter of Children of the American Revolution. Funeral services will be Wednesday 3PM at the New Hope Baptist Church with Dr. David L. Carrico officiating.

Interment for Dr. and Mrs. Barnett will follow at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the PHS foundation c/o Parkersburg Area Community Foundation PO Box 1762 Parkersburg, WV 26102.
