He was born September 22, 1931, in McNary, Arizona, to parents, Elmer and Winona (Barbour) Schneider. Jack graduated from Snowflake High School and later attended Eastern Arizona College before serving an LDS mission to the Northern States.

Upon his return, he promptly married his high school sweetheart, LaVell Hunt, on February 27, 1953. They resided in Snowflake until his draft notice to the United States Army arrived on September 14, 1954. He served 2 years in Fort Ord, California, and Fort Benning, Georgia.

Jack was a lover of the outdoors and sports. He loved camping and spending time with family. He was a gentle giant with a humble spirit that appreciated the simple things in life.

Jack made his career in the restaurant business for 17 years; first in Washington starting the “Pizza Haven” with 2 friends from BYU and then after 5 years returned to Arizona to start his own restaurant “Snides House of Pizza” near the ASU campus. The hustle and bustle of city life eventually moved them back to Snowflake in 1974 where they both became employed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They worked here until their retirement enjoying once again the association of family and dear friends.

He loved to work with his hands and build, including play houses and real houses. Jack also served as a School bus driver for the Lobo sports teams for a number of years. He loved being with the youth and watching and cheering them on his entire life.

Some of his latest wishes were to attend one more game! Jack loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and his membership in the Church! He served in the scouting program for years and in various other callings including Bishop of the Snowflake 1st Ward.

He loved the pioneer heritage of the Church and participated in treks and loved teaching his children Church history.
