Jack’s Obituary Jack Zylks, 78 of Rodessa, Louisiana passed away on January 24, 2019. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Slaughter Cemetery in Rodessa, Louisiana, officiated by Bishop Vance Gaddy. There will be a time of visitation from 5-7 PM on Saturday, January 26th at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA.

Jack was born on October 7, 1940 in Rodessa, LA to George and Connie Zylks. He was raised in this area before moving to Tucson, Arizona where he met his wife Marilla. He moved back to Rodessa in 1978.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many capacities of the church such as, Elders Quorum President, 1st Counselor in the Bishopric, Ward Executive Secretary and Assistant Ward Clerk. He was also a member of Local 428 of the Operating Engineers. He loved music, when he lived in Arizona he had his own Country Music band for 9 years.

He also loved to dance and did so as often as he could. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Troy Zylks, his two brothers, John David Zylks and Charles Clark “Hank” Zylks, his two sisters, Connie Ruth Schlosser and Vivian Ingram, and his son-in-law, Paul Anthony Sparish. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Marilla West Zylks of Rodessa, LA, his daughter Kimberly Sparish of Doyline, LA, and his sister, Martha Simmons of Rodessa, LA.

He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren, Brandon Sparish, Laurel Sparish, Dashey Sparish, Steven Sparish, Miranda Sparish, and Rachel Sparish, and 3 great-grandchildren, Landrigh Bell Sparish, Paul Chase Sparish and Drake Reed Sparish. Pallbearers will be Steven Sparish, R T Wallace, Chris Hill, Kevin Rougeau, Ryan Brown and Gary Franks. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ward Missionary Fund, 18505 FM 1841 Atlanta, Texas 75551.
