James D. “Jim” Berkey, 61, of Hyde Park, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at home. Born March 31, 1957 in Vandergrift, he was a son of the late Donald & Mary Lou (Wyatt) Berkey. Jim was a graduate of Kiski Area School, and owner/operated Berkey’s Automotive in Hyde Park for 14 years, last working in 2016.

He enjoyed working on and restoring old cars, and was an animal lover, taking care of dogs, cats, and saving birds. (Weiland) Berkey; brothers, John Berkey of Leechburg, Mark (Sandy) Berkey of New Kensington; step-brother, Arthur Hild; step-sister, Faith Smart; and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Leechburg. In lieu of flowers, the family asks Memorial Contributions be made in Jim’s memory to Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, 533 Linden Ave.
