Michael Leroy Almes, 74, of Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at home. Born October 26, 1943 in Saltsburg, he was a son of the late Harry L. & Muriel “Pat” (Lasher) Almes. Michael was a graduate of Saltsburg High School, and served our country with the United States Air Force.

In his younger years, Michael helped his father with home building, and later operated J & M Sporting Goods in Indiana. He last worked as a deputy sheriff for Indiana County… Read More » for 20 years, retiring in 2010. Michael was a member of several clubs around the Blairsville/Indiana areas.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Michael is survived by his wife, Patricia D. (King) Almes; children, Linda D. DePellegrini of Creighton, Michael A. (Yvonne) Almes of Blairsville, Tammy M. (Mike) Conroy of Indiana; grandchildren, Darrin, Brooklyn, Coley, Carley, Madison; siblings, Willard T. (Charlotte) Almes of Saltsburg, Gwendolyn I. (Robert) Peiffer of Indiana, Sandra Elaine (Ronald) Stobert of Saxonburg; and nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. in the Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 701 Salt St., Saltsburg.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, at the convenience of the family.
