Mary Ellen (Williams) Hemke, 92, of Bell Township, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born January 11, 1926 in Laurel Hill, PA, she was a daughter of the late Sylvester Joseph Williams & Mina Delila (Willey) Williams. Mary Ellen lived in Bell Township most of her life, and enjoyed reading, crocheting & knitting, and working on Crossword, Word Search, and Sudoku puzzles.

Hemke, who passed away on December 17, 2012; sons, David Lee Hemke, Donald J. “Jim” Hemke; sister, Virginia “Jeanie” Scopel; brother, William “Bill” Williams; and an infant sister, Sylvie Anne. Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Barbara (Ray) Mook of Washington Township, Claire Hemke of Vandergrift, Dale (Susan) Hemke of South Bend Township, Lynn (Rod Crawford) Hemke of Washington Township, Darryl Hemke of Chandler, AZ, Dana Hemke of Apollo; daughter-in-law, Peggy Hemke of Reynoldsville, PA, eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Kozak of Englewood, Ohio; Sylvester “Butch” Williams of Tarpon Springs, FL, Lee Williams of Norwalk, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave.

Additional visitation will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, November 24, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the Celebration Of Life Tribute Service at 11:00 a.m. Private interment in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo, at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary Ellen’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
