Obituary for Jane C. Twardzik Jane C. (Blad) Twardzik, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, with her loving and devoted daughter, Debra, by her side. Born April 26, 1927, daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Majewicz) Blad, she was a lifelong Chicopee resident and a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop & Martyr. Jane worked for Powers Paper Co. and the A&P Supermarket Corp.

before retiring and starting a family. She then lovingly devoted her life to her husband and daughter, tending to her home and yard and abundant vegetable and flower gardens. Working along with her daughter, many projects were planned and completed throughout the years.

Jane especially enjoyed making crafts, sewing and cooking, and was a follower of many cooking shows. She was an avid reader, always remaining current with the news and views of others. Jane had a sharp business sense and meticulously managed the family’s finances and record keeping.

Jane also managed the Popular Club Plan for many years. In her younger years, Jane was an avid ice skater, roller skater and dancer. Jane’s family would like to thank Drs.

Frederick Basilico, Susan Davidson and Farhat Homsy of N.E. Baptist Hospital for their care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Gail Kaufman of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for her dedication and referrals since 1989. Jane was an inspiration to many because of how she handled her personal medical issues.

She was the world’s best mother and will be deeply and sadly missed by her daughter. Jane was predeceased in 2016 by her beloved husband, Mieczlaf S. “Mitzie” Twardzik, and is survived by her dedicated and caring daughter, Debra M. Twardzik; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and her comforting feline companion, Sapphire. She was predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Karey, Stella Kochanek and Edward Blad.

Funeral services for Jane will be held Monday from Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Stanislaus Basilica. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday morning from 8:30-9:45AM.
