Jim Richard Sullivan July 01, 1932 – December 29, 2018 Share this obituary Local Florists View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card James “Jim” Richard Sullivan, 86, of Macon, MO, passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at the Harry S. Truman Medical Center in Columbia, MO. Jim was born on July 1, 1932, in Moberly, MO, the son of Leo Leroy and Irene (McKeighan) Sullivan. Jim attended elementary school at the Loretto Academy in Moberly and finished 9th -12th grade at Moberly Community College.

He was a graduate of the University of Missouri. After serving two years in the United States Army, he was employed by the Missouri State Highway Department in Macon until retiring in 1990. Jim was united in marriage to Virginia Lucas on June 20, 1959, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Macon.

They lived in Moberly until 1973 when they moved to Macon. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports (a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals), taking his walks around Macon, and was a good tennis player winning many trophies.

Jim is survived by his wife Virginia of Macon, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Michael, two sisters, Elizabeth Hall and Ellen Loetscher. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the Immaculate Conception Church in Macon with Father Ben Nwosu officiating.

Visitation will be from 10-11 am, Thursday morning, at the church. Burial, with full military honors, will be at 2 pm, Thursday afternoon, at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Immaculate Conception Church.
