Thomas Dean Downey October 25, 1945 – February 22, 2019 Share this obituary View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Thomas “Tom” Dean Downey, 73, of Atlanta, MO, passed away at his home on Friday, February 22, 2019. Tom was born on October 25, 1945, the son of Charles Thomas and Mary Frances (Walker) Downey. Tom served in the United States Army during Vietnam.

He was united in marriage to Dana Herrin on July 18, 1970 in Atlanta. Tom spent most of his life as an over the road trucker. He enjoyed camping and boating in the summertime.

He also enjoyed working in the garage and riding his Harley-Davidson with his friends. Tom especially loved spending time with his family. His family meant everything to him.

Tom will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Dana Downey, two children, Tammy Rhodes and Tim Downey. His beloved four grandchildren, Cassie Rhodes, Corey Rhodes, Dylan Downey, and Lilly Downey. Also extended family, in laws and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 11:30 am, Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at the Elliott Funeral Home in Atlanta. Burial with full Military Honors will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 am, on Tuesday morning. He will be greatly missed by many.
