Jimmie L. Mougey July 16, 1931 – May 25, 2018 Jimmie Mougey, 86, residing in Greenwood, IN and formerly of Sandusky, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018 at Southe Pointe Healthcare, Indianapolis, IN after a brief illness. Jimmie was born on July 16, 1931 in Sidney, OH to the late Leo and Helen (Bechdolt) Mougey. Jimmie received his Bachelor’s of Music Education from Ohio Northern University and his Master’s of Music Education from Vanderbilt University.

He retired… Read More » in 1983 from Norwalk High School after 31 years of teaching band, orchestra and choir. Jimmie was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Windjammers Unlimited (Circus Band Historical Society), Lions Club and the American Concert Band Association.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening; which he was a master gardener, fly fishing, traveling, he loved reading, and spending time with his family and friends. Jimmie is survived by his wife, Amy (Reed) Mougey, whom he married on June 3, 2006, after being together for 15 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Kerin Hall of Sandusky; sons, Douglas Mougey of Columbus and Mark Mougey of Norwalk; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Lou Riesen of Celinia, OH and Jean Hormann, Jim’s twin of Wapakoneta, OH; his fur babies Lucy and Bentley and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Friends may call on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 203 S. Washington St., Castalia on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:00 am. Pastor Kathleen Suggitt will officiate.

Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia. Those wishing to contribute to Jimmie’s memory may do so to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave. , Cleveland, OH 44106 or to the American Diabetes Association, 4500 Rockside Rd.
