Stone Emerson Ambos December 12, 2002 – May 11, 2018 Stone E. Ambos, 15, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, May 11, 2018 following heart complications during a basketball practice Thursday evening. Stone was born on December 12, 2002 in Norwalk, OH to Mark Ambos and Elizabeth Ohlemacher. Stone was a freshman athlete at Perkins High School and was passionate about playing football and basketball.

Stone was a kind and caring young man, with an infectious personality who loved to help whenever he could. Stone enjoyed working with and mentoring the youth, so much so that he started a reading program where high school football players would read to elementary students.

Stone is survived by his parents, Mark and Carie Ambos of Sandusky; birth mother, Elizabeth Ohlemacher of Sandusky; one big sister, Courtnee Ambos; one big brother, Trenton Zimmerman; one sister, Morgan Anderson; three brothers, Fletcher Anderson, Brodey Anderson and Hunter Reed; paternal grandmother, Bonny Ambos; maternal grandfather, Donny Ohlemacher; maternal grandmother, Beth Laser; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. Stone is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dale Ambos. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Perkins High School Gymnasium, 3714 Campbell St. Sandusky, OH 44870.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Perkins High School Auditorium, 3714 Campbell St. Sandusky, OH 44870 with Rev. Stacy Lauer-Scovanner presiding. Burial will follow in Castalia Cemetery, Castalia, OH.

Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Those wishing to contribute to Stone’s memory may do so to the Stone Ambos Scholarship Fund, c/o Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870. Perkins High School students will also be collecting children’s books during the visitation for “Stories from Stone”.

These books will be donated to the elementary school in honor of Stone’s wish to connect and mentor younger students through literacy.
