Jon Bergdoll, age 68, of Railroad, PA died unexpectedly at his home on January 22, 2019. Jon was the loving husband of the late Ann (Donovan) Bergdoll, who passed away on December 21, 2017. He was the son of the late Dr. Fred and Virginia Bergdoll.

Jon graduated from York Suburban High School in 1968 where he was active in swimming, football and student government. Jon held a life-long interest in the music of the 60’s-80’s genre. As a senior, he produced a sold-out concert in the school auditorium with the popular York band, “The Magnificent Men”.

With that success, he went on to produce a concert with American soul and R&B duo, Sam & Dave. After graduating from Lehigh University in 1972 with a degree in accounting, Jon and Ann joined his older brother Fred in a men’s clothing venture before going on to pursue his accounting career, working for several automotive dealerships including Bratton Buick, Shaull Oldsmobile and several locations in the Timonium, Maryland area. Jon was a self-taught master in wood working and with the side-by-side assistance from wife Ann, they restored their historic home in Railroad.

Restoration turned into a life-long passion for home improvement — no project was too big for them to tackle together. The couple enjoyed entertaining on their outdoor decks and in their pub style bar room “The Bricks” with friends and family. Jon leaves two daughters: Mandy Lippiatt and her husband, Chad of Glen Rock, PA and Angie Slade and her husband, Lynden of Phoenix, AZ.

Jon is also survived by his brothers: Fred, Jim and George Bergdoll. Jon was preceded in death by his sister, Fredrica Roberts. He was Uncle Jon to many nieces and nephews and was loved by all.

A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Messiah Lutheran Church on 29 Main Street East, Route 851 in Railroad, PA 17355 at 4:00 PM with Reverend Connie Miller officiating. Parking is extremely limited, carpooling is encouraged. The beautiful home Jon and Ann leave as their legacy will be opened to host a reception following the ceremony.

Food and refreshments will be served and “The Bricks” will be open for all to enjoy as we celebrate the life of a very special man. Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, PA 17403.
