MADISON-Kathryn E. Bakken, age 94, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Oak Park Place. She was born on April 10, 1924, in Fitchburg, the daughter of William and Catherine (Corcoran) Grady. Kathryn graduated from Madison Edgewood High School.

She married Carl Bakken on May 29, 1947, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Verona. Kathryn had been employed as a secretary with the Madison Public School District before retiring in 1988. She was a charter… Read More » member of St. Dennis Catholic Church and the church Altar Society.

Kathryn had a variety of interests including Olbrich Botanical Gardens, reading, playing cards and walking. In her younger years, she loved to dance and travel with Carl to Gulf Shores, Alabama. Kathryn is survived by three daughters, Judith Bakken, Beverly Bakken and Kathleen (Dean) Loss; son, Timothy Bakken; three grandchildren, April (Alan) Rogers, Matthew (Jessica) Loss and Caroline (Parker) Hamilton; three great-grandchildren, Samuel, Patrick and George Rogers; and four sisters-in-law, Delores Bakken, Mary Ellen Tetzlaff, Delores Grady and Shirley Erickson.

In addition to her husband, Carl, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Donald, Edward and William Grady; and sisters, Dorothy Schneider and Eleanor McNally. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Rd. , Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday May 5, 2018, with Father Randy Timmerman presiding.

Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Memorials may be made to St. Dennis Catholic Church.
