OREGON-Darlene G. Groenier, age 78, of Oregon, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 6, 1940, the daughter of Walter and Leona (Gausman) Frye. Darlene graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1958.

She married James Groenier on April, 6, 1962, at Springdale Lutheran Church. Darlene was very active in the Oregon community. She was a member of the Oregon Village Board; having served on the Library Board, Council on Aging/Senior… Read More » Center, EMS/Fire Commission and Board of Review.

She served as president, vice president, and treasurer of the Oregon Lioness Club and chairman of the Holiday Tour of Homes for the Oregon Lioness. Darlene was also a past president and vice president of the Oregon Chamber of Commerce and chairman and co-chairman of Oregon Summer Fest. She also was the Grand Marshall for the Oregon parade.

Darlene grew up on a farm and showed cattle. She was an avid bowler and loved to bake. Darlene was very family oriented.

She was a T-ball and baseball coach, as well as a 4H and Cub Scout leader while her sons were growing up. She also enjoyed traveling on hunting and fishing trips with her husband and four boys. Darlene worked at Ben Franklin for 14 years after moving to Oregon.

She later worked as a sales clerk for Master Graphics in Madison. Darlene is survived her husband, James; sons, Jeff (Becky) Groenier, James “Scott” (Tracie) Groenier, Mitch Groenier and Mike (Laura ) Groenier; grandchildren, Chris Groenier, Charlie Groenier, Ethan Groenier, Connor Groenier, Gavin Groenier and Aspen Groenier; sisters, Elizabeth (Dale) Chapman and Carla (Jim) Raatz; brother, Chuck Faye; sister-in-law, Ann (Jake) Delwiche; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2018. A visitation will immediately follow until 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare and UW Carbone Cancer Center.
