MIDDLETON-The sun will no longer shine as bright for those who loved Joanne Currie Woellner. Jo peacefully passed onto her next journey on Sunday, June 24, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at her home. She was born December 16, 1946 to Virginia McQuillan Currie and Edward L. Currie.

She graduated from East High School and earned her B.A. in Education from the University of Wisconsin. She met and married Tim, her husband of 40 years, and they have a daughter, Amy Joanne. … Read More » After teaching at Poynette High School for thirty years, she retired to be a full-time “Gramma” and to tend to her “work of art” landscaping.

She received her Certificate of Master Gardening and created a true air b&b for all flying critters. Joanne is survived by her devoted husband, Tim; her dearly loved daughter, Amy, and husband, Josh and cherished grandchildren, Josie and Colton Whitford. She is further survived by loving brothers, Jim (Peggy) Currie and Jerry (Anita) Currie; nephews, Jason (Jenny) Currie, Jamie (Quinn) Currie and Macallan Currie; half-sisters, Cheryl Schwarz, Terrie Storlid and Louann Sheridan; special soul sisters, Sheryl Batten, Bonnie Mast, Jeanne Cantwell and so many other extended family and friends that will feel the loss of her beautiful, gentle, accepting, and generous spirit.

Her physical beauty was always apparent, but her true beauty lay beneath. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents. Tim and Amy give their heartfelt thanks to all who kept a bed-side vigil…the room was always filled with love and to Agrace Hospice for their care, advice and support.

An open house celebration of life will be held at her home at 4939 Highwood Circle, Middleton, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018. You don’t know how strong you can be until being strong is your only choice. Rest in your new garden, Jo Jo, you will surely be the beautiful bird/butterfly that would chance to land on our windowsill.
