Kenneth “Kenny” David Rittenhouse III, age 38, of Elwood, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Elwood on September 12, 1979, to the Kenneth David Rittenhouse II and Mary (Bucci) Leavell. Kenny was a 1998 graduate of Elwood Community High School and went on to proudly serve our Country in the Army National Guard.

He served in the Indiana and Texas Army National Guards from 2005 until his retirement in 2017. Kenny served a tour of duty in Afghanistan from December 2008 to November 2009 at the Bagram Airfield Base; where he was an intelligence interrogator. On April 20, 2017 he married Rachael (Brown) Rittenhouse and she survives.

Kenny will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many. Kenny is survived by his wife Rachael Rittenhouse; mother, Mary (husband Bill) Leavell; father, Kenneth David Rittenhouse, II; children, Fiona Rittenhouse, Scarlett Rittenhouse, Elizabeth “Ellie” Harris, and Kenneth David Rittenhouse IV who is due in November 2018; brothers, Josh (wife Danielle) Rittenhouse, Shane (wife Jessica) Leavell, Justin (wife Jennifer) Leavel; grandmother, Beverly Rittenhouse; father-in-law, Mark Brown,; mother-in-law, Brenda Fairman; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Kenneth was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth David Rittenhouse Sr., and Joseph and Margot Bucci.

A service to honor Kenny’s life will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Scott Blaylock officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5, 2018, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Dunnichay Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
