Wilson, 77, of Blanchard, died Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at his home. The son of the late Edward and Mary (Fagan) Wilson, he was born on February 23, 1941 in Oklahoma City. Being raised on Walnut Creek, east of Blanchard, he spent his youth on the farm working cattle, cutting, bailing, hauling hay, riding horses, fishing, and playing hard.
In high school he played football, basketball, and tried riding bulls in rodeos. The bulls usually won. Then the next chapters of his life gave him more adventure by joining the United States Army.
His many adventures included serving in Korea, three tours in Vietnam, Germany, Panama and several bases stateside. He retired as Master Sergeant at Ft. Riley, Kansas.
Always a Big Red One. During his military service, he was awarded the Expert Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Silver Star, two Bronze Stars with “V” and Oak Leaf Clusters, Combat Infantry Badge, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Honor, two Purple Hearts, the Air Medal and the Army Commendation Medal with “V” and Oak Leaf. After military retirement, Kenneth bought a truck to start a career as a long haul and heavy haul truck driver across the United States and Canada.
He still had farming in his blood and continued planting wheat pastures and raising cattle. He always took time to enjoy fishing, hunting quail and deer, raising bird dogs and reading. When professional bull riding began, he spent his days attending these events until his health did not allow it.
He then watched PBR on television on a weekly basis. Kenneth enjoyed college sports, especially O.U. softball and professional baseball teams, the Rangers and Astros. Kenneth also enjoyed listening to gospel and country music.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George. He leaves behind his wife, Patty; his son, Ronnie Wilson and his wife, Janet; one granddaughter, Katey Stripling and her husband, Jonathan; one grandson, Tanner Wilson and his wife, Chelsee; son, Kenny Allen; his sisters, Carole Caldwell, Judy Lynn, Marlana Ashford and their families; and many other loved ones and friends. While in high school, he made a profession of faith at First Baptist Church in Blanchard.
He said God took care of him in good and bad times. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Saint Anthony medical staff for the excellent health care Kenneth received during these past few years, especially Dr. Misty Bogle, nurse Amanda, Dr. Prasad and Dr. Summers. We also thank the Jordan Health Services for his home health care, especially Janese and Ali.
Finally, our appreciation to Oklahoma Palliative and Hospice Care for being in our home the past three weeks. Thank you to nurse Donna for her sweet care during Kenneth’s final day upon this earth. He said since being wounded twice in war, each day God granted him on this earth was an extra one.
He lived every day to the fullest. He only wanted one more deer and quail hunt, but never got the chance. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 10, 2018, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard.
Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.
