Kenneth R Hughes, February 26, 1940 — December 18, 2018

Kenneth Ray Hughes, 78, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon. He was born in Campbellsburg, Indiana, on February 26, 1940, a son of the late Henry Howard Hughes and Hazel Pauline (Barnett) Gallion Hughes Carney Everman. Kenneth was raised and educated in Campbellsburg, Indiana.

On September 14, 1963, he was married to Karen Juanita (Witte) Hughes, in Boone County, Indiana. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2009. Kenneth worked at Alton Box Company for 6 years.

He then began working as a materials supplier for Commercial Filters until it closed in 2002 and he retired. After retirement, Kenneth helped out at Oak Hill Cemetery and Barney’s Auto Sales. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, doing remodeling projects, and traveling.

Kenneth loved the time spent with family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lebanon. Survivors include: Three Children: Regina J. (Eric) Garner – New Port Richey, Florida Randy (Donna) Hughes – Avon, Indiana Daisy L. (Timothy) Thomas – Crawfordsville, Indiana Eight Grandchildren: Sunshine (Steve) Stillwell – Brownsburg, Indiana Rebecca Hughes – Lebanon, Indiana Cole Garner – Lebanon, Indiana Tabatha Thomas – Crawfordsville, Indiana Kristie Thomas – Crawfordsville, Indiana Allison Thomas – Crawfordsville, Indiana Bryce Hughes – Bradenton, Florida Hannah Hughes – Avon, Indiana Several Great Grandchildren In addition to his parents and his wife, Kenneth was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Gallion, Thomas Hughes, and James Carney; and two sisters, Vivian Carney and Mary Ellen Carney.

Funeral Services with Military Rites are planned for 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be begin at 2:00 p.m. until time of the service at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial of Ashes will take place following cremation at Sugar Plain Cemetery near Thorntown.
