Obituary for Maria Miguel SOMERSET—Maria (Melo) Miguel, 82 passed away Saturday. She was the widow of Antonio Miguel. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose Melo and the late Maria Almeida, she lived in Somerset for the past 34 years.

Maria worked as a machine operator for the former Quaker Fabric, and she was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset. She is survived by three sons, Arnold Miguel and his wife Ana from Westport, Antone Miguel and his wife Christine from Tiverton, and Tomas Miguel of Somerset; four daughters, Maria Martins and her husband Antone of Fall River, Luisa Manchester and her husband Roger of Somerset, Genoveva Gray of Dartmouth, and Hilda Cabral and her husband Jimmy of Fall River; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late Joseph Miguel, and was preceded in death by nine siblings, Manuel, Jose, Antone Joaquim, Augustino, Maria, Evengelina, Louisa and Isabel.

A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, July 18 at 11 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, South St., Somerset with burial to follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Other arrangements held privately with the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals.
