Mary Ann Goss, December 02, 1945 — January 20, 2019

Mary Ann Goss, age 73, of Swords Creek, VA passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Bristol Regional Medical in Bristol, TN after complications of a lengthy illness. Mary was born on December 2, 1945 in Bristol VA and was the daughter of Annie Jane Lewis Lakey of Raven, VA and the late Robert Lakey. She was employed at Plaster’s Discount Furniture for 28 years before retiring in 2010.

For over 40 years, Mary had kept nursery at various churches in the Richlands area, with the past 30 years being at the Richlands First United Methodist Church. She loved all of her “babies” dearly and talked about them often. Mary was a lifelong resident of the area.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Goss; grandchildren, Sydney and Benjamin Plaster; her brother, Harold Lakey. In addition to her mother, she is survived by: Her Daughter, Anita Plaster and husband, Chuck of Raven, VA Grandchildren: Logan Plaster of Richlands, VA Madison McGlothlin and husband, Colton of Sardis, OH Sisters: Virginia Ray of Asheboro, NC Barbara Cooper of Clearwater, FL Brothers: Jimmy Lakey and wife, Diane of Pounding Mill, VA Bobby Lakey and wife, Minnie of Cliffield, VA Richard Lakey and wife, Carolyn of Todd, NC Jackie Lakey of Bandy, VA Very special friend, who was like a sister, Peggy Plaster of Raven, VA Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services for Mary Ann Goss will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel with Pastor Doug Johnson and Eddie Hess officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Virginia. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
