Mary Jane (Tallentire) Fike, 93, of Friendsville, MD, died Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland, MD. Born October 9, 1924, at Lamberton, PA, raised on a farm in Preston Co., WV, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Dennis) Tallentire. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Troy Russell Fike, June 10, 2009; one brother, Lucian Tallentire; two sisters, Emma Jean Shirer and Mildred Jenkins.

Mary Jane was the manager of the cafeteria at Friendsville Elementary School, having worked for the Garrett County Board of Education for 25 years, along with various other jobs. When she was younger she enjoyed working with younger people and played piano at the Assembly of God Church. Mary also enjoyed crocheting and knitting in her spare time and was a member of the Sand Spring Church of God.

She is survived by two brothers-in-law, James Fike, Accident, MD and Ronald Fike, The Villages, FL; one sister-in-law, Glenna Reese, Friendsville; several nieces and nephews and is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Friends will be received at the Sand Spring Church of God, 1030 Fearer Rd. , Friendsville, on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will follow in the church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.

Dana Umbel officiating. Interment will be in the Sand Spring Cemetery. Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave.
