Sandra L. (Burow) McClintock, 70, of Grantsville, MD, went to be with her Lord and Savior at her home on Sunday, July 29, 2018. Born January 22, 1948, in Confluence, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Reta (Thomas) Burrow. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gary “Jake” McClintock, to whom she was married for 45 years; father-in-law, Everett McClintock; mother-in-law, Mayalene McClintock and brother-in-law, Herb Fost.
Sandy was a 1965 graduate of Turkeyfoot Valley High School and a former secretary at the Pentagon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and a friend to many. Sandy and Jake enjoyed life on the farm where they worked hard and raised their two sons.
Sandy was an active member of St. John’s English Lutheran Church, Cove, MD, where she served as council secretary, taught Sunday School, helped with VBS and was a member of the Veteran Outreach team for the Accident Lutheran Parish. She was active in the Ladies Aid and served on numerous committees and joyfully planned tea parties and hay rides. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 24, Frostburg, MD; past member of the Athletic Booster at Northern High School and former substitute teacher for Garrett County Board of Education.
Left to cherish her memory are her “boys”, Jeffrey (Bobbie) McClintock, Grantsville and Steven (Darla) McClintock, Accident; granddaughter, Mercedes (Seth) Nicholson and grandson, Elias McClintock, both of Grantsville; two brothers, William (Connie) Burow, Friendsville and Ray (Brenda) Burow, Confluence; one sister, Patsy Jackson, Frostburg, MD; two sisters-in-law, Donna Fost, Accident, MD and Betty (Dave) May, Baldwin, MD; one brother-in-law, Edward (Donna) McClintock, Frisco, TX; step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, her church family and Sherri Henry, who was a special friend to Sandy and Jake. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. John’s English Lutheran Church, Cove, MD with the Rev. Peter Suwak officiating.
A private burial will be held at the Addison Cemetery, Addison, PA. Arrangements are being handled by Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, MD 21536. newmanfuneralhomes.com. The family is very appreciative of all the love and support given to them during Sandy’s illness through prayers, visits, cards and phone calls. They would also like to thank all of Sandy’s nurses, caregivers, Garrett County Home Health Services and Garrett County Hospice.
Most of all they offer a special thanks to Dr. Shah of Ruby Memorial Hospital for his expertise, love and compassion for which they are truly grateful.
